Since the inception of the Band in 1994, membership has grown from just a handful to a healthy 40+ members.
In concert, South Pacific Concert Band can provide a wide range of musical styles and arrangements, with music from some of the greats, including Ray Charles, Elton John, Andrew Lloyd Webber, Michael Jackson, Adele and John Williams just to name a few.
The quality and colour of the Band in concert can not be surpassed, everyone who attends our performances comments on our enthusiasm. This enthusiasm is infectious and contributes significantly to our style of playing.
The Band has been under the musical direction of Mr Barry Davidson since 2008.
Barry, who over 18 months helped us out on many occasions, accepted the Musical Director's position. Barry has been involved in the Artillery Band for over 30 years as well as other Concert Bands.
South Pacific Concert Band is also a proficient Marching Band. ANZAC Day is our busiest time of the year for marching, with many RSL Clubs and Sub-Branches requesting our services.
One of our favourite marching jobs is the Sydney ANZAC Day Parade, the crowd is electric, the atmosphere is buzzing and the Band does not disappoint.
South Pacific Concert Band has been fortunate enough over the years to run workshops with some of the United States' and Australia's best known composers, including Mr Jerry Nowak.
Who can forget the marching band at the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games Opening Ceremony? Some of our members were part of that 2500 piece marching marvel!
